When the Government launched the Future Libraries programme it was in the belief that innovation, led by local authorities, was the best solution to ensuring the modernisation of library services. Since then, there has been much discussion about restructuring services through technology, shared services, and the use of a community workforce.
This 7th National Conference, supported by CLOA, attracted senior-level library and information management professionals from local authorities and the wider cultural sector to discuss emerging policy issues and share best practice from across the country.
CLOA Member – David Ruse, Tri-borough Head of Libraries for Westminister, Kensington & Chelsea gave a presentation on behalf of the Society of Chief Librarians entitled The Future of Public Libraries: Effective Governance in Challenging Times.
