The first part of the meeting focused on the issues facing leisure providers, both immediately and in the medium to long term and our Past Chair, Ian Brooke, talked about the situation nationally and how councils are responding, while Chris Lee, Director of Environment & Regeneration at Merton Council gave an update from a London perspective. The second part focused on the impact on the wider cultural sector.

This second Hot Topics Session was attended by DCMS advisor on public libraries Yinnon Ezra.
Yinnon was keen to understand from local authority senior manager’s how the current public sector financial challenges, alongside the rapidly evolving world of books due to e-technology advances etc, was being addressed in London. Key points from the discussion will be fed back to Culture Minister Ed Vaizey.
22 May 2013: 2pm – 4.30 at London Councils
‘Hot Topics’ session on the subject of Contracting. The session is intended to be an accelerated learning event and will incorporate both Action Learning and Peer Mentoring styles.
The session will be of interest to anyone grappling with issues around negotiating a contract and to anyone who can offer learning from recent experience, innovation, or particular expertise in this area. The session will also be attended by a couple of peers from the London Cultural Peer Bank to provide challenge.
